Boerboel Exercise Requirements at Every Age
Right-sizing exercise protects your Boerboel's joints while keeping mind and body healthy. Too little leads to boredom and weight gain; too much, too young damages developing joints.
Puppies (under 18 months)
- Follow the five-minutes-per-month-of-age rule, twice daily, for structured walks.
- Avoid forced running, repetitive jumping, and stairs while joints are developing.
- Prioritize socialization outings over distance — see our week-by-week puppy guide.
Adults (18 months–7 years)
- About 45–60 minutes of daily activity plus mental stimulation.
- Mix walks, structured play, and training games.
Seniors (7+ years)
- Maintain gentle, regular movement to keep joints mobile and weight in check.
- Adjust intensity to comfort; watch for stiffness and report it to your vet.
Mental exercise counts
Boerboels are intelligent and need a job. Puzzle feeders, scent games, and training sessions tire them out as effectively as a walk. Learn more about the breed in our Boerboel breed guide.
