Lions Pride Kennels

Gallipolis, OH

Lions Pride Kennels is a Gallipolis, Ohio operation run by Terry Qualls Jr., with a Facebook page (created October 19, 2022, 203 followers, category Dog Breeder / Dog Trainer) [1] and Instagram account @lions_pride_kennels [2]. The kennel is not currently operational: on April 11, 2025 the Gallia County Prosecutor announced that Terry Qualls Jr. was sentenced to a mandatory minimum of 4 years 11 months (maximum 6 years 11 months) in Ohio state prison after being convicted on eight felony counts — seven counts of Theft and one count of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity — for stealing $73,890.65 from five victims between October 2021 and July 2024 using various LLCs registered in Gallia County [3][4]. Separately, multiple named Boerboel breeders — including Black Iron Boerboels (host of the Boerboel Expo), Benaiah Boerboels (Tricia Smith), Brickyard Boerboels (Jeff Kuntz), and others — have publicly documented non-delivery of paid transports, failure to refund payments for dog food, and the return of two Boerboels (Black Iron Maggie and Black Iron Benny) in malnourished condition following placement at Lions Pride Kennel [5]. The kennel also operated under the DBAs "Lions Pride Transport" and "Lions Pride Boerboels" [5]. See Public Record for details. Multi-party Boerboel-community reports of kennel neglect and financial non-delivery

Between late 2024 and early 2025, multiple named Boerboel breeders publicly documented failures by Lions Pride Kennel / Lions Pride Transport (operated by Terry Qualls Jr.): Black Iron Boerboels (host of the Boerboel Expo) and Benaiah Boerboels (Tricia Smith) each placed a Boerboel there and recovered the dogs — Black Iron Maggie and Black Iron Benny — in malnourished condition, with Maggie having gone through two heat cycles in rapid succession. Tricia Smith paid $600 for dog food that was never delivered or refunded. Brickyard Boerboels (Jeff Kuntz) had a customer pay for a transport that was never picked up and never refunded. Additional first-person complaints of transport non-delivery and money taken but services not rendered were documented by other breeders. Reports describe the kennel operating under three interchangeable names: Lions Pride Kennel, Lions Pride Transport, and Lions Pride Boerboels. Terry Qualls's spouse Crystal Thomas is named in the complaints. Community members have emailed the NABBR registry ([email protected]) seeking membership revocation.
